2nd Tsunami Anniversary

This Morning all over Maldives a minute of silence was observed.. Well, i did, but dont know how many else did really do that.

I was astonished when on the radio news i heared that 3049 homes were to be made by the govt but till now only 158 homes could be provided.

I had seen and heared the living standard these victims were facing, its shocking that they had to bear the burden of living without homes and only in Tents for 2 years and STILL COUNTING. Its mostly the Raa.Kandolhudhoo and Thaa.Vilufushi people.

The displaced people living in hulhumale have temporary houses made by steel sheets, I’ve see them at daytime always outside their steel home, logic is how can people withstand in living in HOT OVEN.

The Radio news said that due to funding from the countries that pledged help didnt fullfill their promise as said.

I had a hard time beleiving that it was such an issue.

In two years time that it should progress this much is really a sad matter.

An assistant who works with a ‘member of the disaster management’ told me today that people comes to meet this person but he always slips away from answering their questions regarding the matter. Thus actions like this tends to make lots of people in to thinking corruption might be involved. Articles can be seen on the popular anti gov site.

What more can be done to make the progess of helping our bros & sis of the 2004 tsunami??

Sick Sick Sick

Its been more than 5 days having this viral sickness but still no avail.
Dont know where i got this as its all over maldives.
Coughing every 30 secs. Even at praying, on the ferry, at office.
Family, friends, even my boss is really concerned about this. Have taken different medicines from different Docs, remedies from Mom & pals, surfed the net for a quick cure, nothing is working.

3 nites have gone by that made me stay awake coughing

There is a 1000mg vitamic C tablet that im taking which easers this trouble. Last nite had the same problem & after drinking hot water, journeyed to kitchen to retreive it, found it EMPTY. Someone had gobbledup my tablets, sheesh, wat2do?

It was a very exciting & eventful trip with shaad, fenthashi, zembe, ayya, & gaffar.

The call came on the nite when i was on a date, i was told to get ready to go on an official trip to outside male’. It was a time i was having some issues with gf, was looking forward for a litle break. The next day i went to office & joined the group. After a briefing by an official, we departed on lauch to airport. Without any delay, a bus took us to a cargo plane. As soon as we boarded, it took off. Next we landed on addu, transiting, had a jeep sight seeing addu as the plane was refueled.

circumsision

These big holidays are famous for its circumsisioning & follow-up entertainments in those homes all around male’ & on the islands. The colorfulness of this ritual may be a litle low in male’ but in islands its fantastic. Loud music & decorative lights, 24 hrs movies, boduberu, dance groups, flocks of visitors, great chow for guests, its more like an eid festival.

My nephews had their circumsisioning and i enjoyed some joyful time with them.

The photos of Male’ like zooming to presidential palace from above and watching its swimming pool, near by places like villigili, hulhumale’ , Aaaaaarah, int aiport, thilafushi, very intresting stuff.
Also Hanimadhoo map taken on mid time of day makes the Map look really gr8.
The sad part is some islands cannot be zoomed because its still not taken in a high resolution image, example the haa.alif dhidhoo,(island office with fish dumped), really wanted to have a peak at that place. Here’s the dhidhoo overlay. In google earth Haa.daal islands can be seen. The time and dates option is also seen so we know how update the photos are.

National security mite also b risked by this stuff but hope not.

download the jpg photos with full island names from my flickr and search ur island, just log into google earth to have a real peak and next start geomap.

Morning starts with clicking the D.O , Havyru & fact or themaldivan news & mails. I read an intresting clash today between moyameehaa and truthcures , funny but also gr8 views of opinion.

Most recent troubling news issue is this and hope the people responsible should be found and prosecuted by justice. This article gives an insight. Murder is not popular here in maldives and should stay like that, island’s mostly are fanatics.

There 5W site was relaunched as www.faskaaf.com , thought have put up a gudcolor but still needs more news juice.

Tonite all alone in my section, came office with Mrs going to buy a new touchscreen phone popular in maldives but shop stil not open and now nothing to do.

A 2 rufiya note. Old memories, its also got good value in ebay for money collectors.
btw paypal have include maldives but cudnt get my visa card to accept. Tried many times but luck still, any info is welcome.
